Went in to sell back books & they were very rude & would not honor the prices on my quote sheet & wanted to guve me almost $100 less went to the downtown store on lake street & had no problems didnt even have to show print out to get the right price i lno other people this has happened to i think they just try steal the money from people
I purchased a "new" workbook of Modern Chinese 1a. Unfortunately, two weeks later, I have just discovered that this workbook was not new at all even though it had been shrink wrapped. Somebody had written on the inside and done many of the later exercises. I plan to visit Beck's again to ask what happened and request a replacement, but this is ridiculous. This is very frustrating because my Chinese homework involves audio exercises and since the workbook online code has already been registered, I am unable to complete my Chinese homework.
Unfortunately, after attending class today, I learned that this appears to have also happened to one of my classmates. Whereas my new textbook was indeed new, neither her textbook nor workbook were.
Don't rent here they have bad policies - not worth it
Nice Northwestern gear. They don't always have the books I need and textbook sell back prices are very low compared to how much the book cost.
Update: After contacting Beck's about the issue, they were willing to replace the workbook and also offered some store credit as compensation. This process was very quick and the employees helpful, but because late homework is not accepted for my Chinese class, my grade has still been negatively impacted by this incident. While there will be more assignments, exams, and opportunities to improve my grade, it is never pleasant to start the academic year with a 50% in a class.
